Parkway Southwest Middle School: Career Clusters

This week I have been in my office (temporary workspace 😉 in the counseling conference room to assist kids in 7th grade with their Career surveys.  It’s called “Cluster Finder” and it’s through the school’s website.  Many kids were absent or did not complete the survey the first time it was done, so I just help them get started and provide definitions for words they don’t know.

It is crazy to me that these 13-year-olds are already thinking about what kind of career they want and meeting with people that represent that career path.

Last Post

Yesterday: Had my AP Calc BC test (required about a week’s worth of brain power).

Today: The hospital couldn’t accommodate me today; I’m preparing my presentation and researching all the things I learned/saw in the C-section on Monday.

Tomorrow: Last day of my (and everyone else’s?) project! I’ll be shadowing a nurse in the mother/baby department.

Summarization of first week at Laser Light

Overall, it was a pretty helpful experience for me to understand how a small/medium size manufacturing company survive in this big market with the fine cooperation between each departments. Mr. Hannon really taught me a huge amount of knowledge and experience that he had both from his MBA and the later years he applied those MBA strategies to grow this company. Mr. Hannon himself is a really efficient businessman. One of his attributes that drove this company grow up substantially from almost failing is his ability to seek the proper macro-direction for the company. He does not really do many detailed management work. He is more like a big captain of this ship.

Cherry Hills Days 10-11

Monday-It wasn’t very busy today. There were some appointments, but nothing super exciting. Stoney came back! Stoney is a yellow lab who was here my first surgery day to get an enormous tumor removed. He came back because he ripped out his stitches, reopening the wound severely. It’s worrisome because the wound should have started healing already so it shouldn’t have reopened so much. Dr. Leonard decided that Stoney would come back every day to make sure it healed.

Tuesday-Surgery day! Today we had three dentals, which almost killed me. She yanked fourteen teeth from a King Charles Spaniel named Molly. We also had a lump removal from a golden retriever named Lady. Aside from those, we had Stoney, and we cleaned his wound, and we had a yellow lab named Tucker who wasn’t eating at home, so we tried to figure out why. Lastly, we had an adorable five month old black lab named Grace who came in for a Happy visit all day. She was very nervous and we brought her in to try and make her more comfortable there so that she doesn’t try to bite when getting her vaccines. So part of my job today was to just load her up with treats and play with her.

Travling home

Hello everybody, my father and I now have fourteen hours left on our 75 hour journey to the east coast and back. This has been very exciting and I am working on my presentation as you read this. The reason posts have been so lacking lately is because the majority of areas we have been in have not had a cellular or WiFi connection.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s progress.

Yosemite Hike

I just completed my final hike which was a four day three night adventure into the back country of Yosemite National park. The hike took our medium size group through waterfalls, over rivers, and through mountains. This time instead of eating flash dried food we ate fresh produce, meat, and other tasty treats. The total distance of the hike was around 20 miles… fourteen of which were with a 46 pound pack. We each had to carry a canister which weighed 6-10 pounds, this was to protect agains the bears and other animals from getting our food. Fortunately the weather was on our side and the rain held off just as it did last trip.

Unfortunately I am not able to post the link to my Instagram blog on this format. Each time I try to visit the page I get a 404 error code. Sorry teachers and students, the page is called (Coast_to_coast_hiking)

Gambrill Gardens: Health Fair

Last week, the marketing director asked me to come in on May 11th (even though I was scheduled to be at SWM) to help them set up and work their health fair.

I loved being back there!  I was a greeter for awhile, and then I worked at the raffle table for a couple hours.  After that, I milled around the property to see all of the booths and offer water to the workers.  I also spent time at the front desk during mail sorting time, because there were extra packages for Mother’s Day.  At the end of the day I helped them fold their tables and chairs.
