Week 3 M-Th (HNS Sports Group)

For week 3 I am at HNS Sports Group which is a sports event management company their headquarters is in Ohio but they manage a golf tournament in the St. Louis at Norwood Hill Country Club. The Tournament was previously called the Ascension Charity Classic but now Stifel as taken the title sponsorship. This week I worked with the sales team (Connor, Ellen) they both gave me a break down of what they both do. It was really interesting hearing about all of this I never thought managing a event like this would be very complicated and all the pieces need to be put together to have it run smoothly. I Mainly Worked with Ellen in the Office which is on the Second Floor of Norwood Hills Country Club. Ellen at the beginning of the week gave me a Excel Spreadsheet of all the members at the country club (about 600) and I had to look them up mainly on LinkedIn and figure out what business they worked for and what their positions are and fill in the spreadsheet with this data. This is because there could be good connections for potential sponsors and a way for the tournament to make money. I also worked on Prospecting Columbia and Springfield. Prospecting is Basically scouting a area for businesses and getting contacts within those businesses and putting that data into a spreadsheet. They do this because they want to know what businesses are in the area and in they are a good fit. I also met with Alonzo who is the Manager of Business Development at the Stifel Charity Classic. He does most of the cold calling and reaching out to people about deals. He also gave a full tour of the Country Club and got to meet a lot the employees and members at the country club which was very nice I also heard some very interesting stories about the place.
