While working on painting a birdhouse with Alex, Dr. Urbano told us that he had a bookshelf he wanted painted. We told him he was going to have to wait until we were done and then we would happily paint it. After finishing the birdhouse Alex and I began working on the bookshelf. The front and sides were painted red. Inside the first shelf there was an Eiffel Tower design, the second shelf had some water and trees, and the last one had numbers. Down the sides of the shelf there were small flowers. The back of the shelf was not painted at all. Our first step was to paint the back of the shelf red. We did about three or four coats of paint to make the color bold. After getting the back painted red we painted over the flowers on the side and the second and bottom shelves in red. Jordan than told us that those flowers were painted by Tina and we felt really bad for covering them up, but we continued with our project. Then we started thinking about what designs we wanted to paint on the shelf. We were stuck on what to do and then Alex had the idea to write “Doc’s Lair” on the back. Then I said we should do caves and have Doc put his handprints on the cave. So, we painted the caves and then we decided to put Dr. Urbano’s face on it and include things he likes and quotes he says. We painted Perry the platypus, pocket cheese, and gave Dr. Urbano a crown. Some quotes we used include “What are you doing?”, “ok”, and “ToDdLeRs”. We still have some finishing touches to put on this project which include a fire in the cave, more coats of paint, and Dr. Urbano’s handprints.
